A little about Coach J...
My fourth year at TWHS and loving every minute!! What an incredible place is TWHS! It is the most amazing environment I have ever had the privilege of working in. I have grown up and lived in the Woodlands almost my whole life, and it feels like home!
I graduated from Spring High in 1994, went to Texas A&M University and received an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology & Education in 1998, and did my student teaching at Westfield High School and Ponderosa Elementary in Spring ISD in 1999.
Texas A&M was (and still is!) a great place to be, so I returned to further my education and in the Spring of 2001 I received my master's degree in Sports Psychology.
From 2001-2003, I taught at Kempner High School in the Fort Bend School District in Sugarland. I taught English I & II, and was the JV basketball and softball coach.
In 2003 I started "inching" my way back home and began working at Magnolia High School, where I taught until 2005. I taught English 2 PreAP, was the varsity assistant girls' basketball coach, and JV softball coach.
In 2005 I went up north a little further to Montgomery High School, and there I made my home as a Montgomery Bear for 8 years. I taught English I Level & PreAP, English 2 Level & PreAP. I began as the JV girls basketball coach, but in 2007 became the
Girls Head Basketball Coach. In just 3 years, Lady Bear Basketball became a state-ranked program, went to the playoffs in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and were District Champs 2011, Bi-District Champs 2011 and 2013. I was honored to be the coach of the Lady Bear Basketball program and was named
Montgomery County Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013.
On June 14, 2011 the greatest joy of my life was born - Harper Kay Jordan. As she has grown (and as all parents know), time has become more and more precious. I have made the transition to being a full-time English teacher at The Woodlands and am so thankful for the time I can devote to my daughter and my students. Such a huge blessing this has been! This year, Harper is
in Kindergarten at Powell Elementary in CISD, so I am a proud parent of a CISD student!
As I enter my 16th year of teaching, I feel incredible Highlander pride and pride in what I do! I believe in the sanctity and opportunity that lies within the classroom, and I am passionate about what I do. There is truly no greater honor or greater responsibility than to teach.
And at the end of the day, I ask myself: "Did I love enough? Did I laugh enough? Did I make a difference?"
Here's to the difference we can all make!! All My Best - Coach J.
