CLASS INFORMATION
Spanish I
Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! It is a privilege to have your student in my Spanish I class. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. You may contact me by calling the school’s office at or by email at mpargmann@csisd.net. My conference period is from 1:00-2:30 . Please review the following information.
Homework:
All homework assignments will be posted in the room and on my website. You may go to my website for quiz and test dates . Completing homework is imperative so that the fluency in speaking, writing, and reading will occur. Homework that is not handed in on the due date will be a zero.
Makeup Work:
Students are responsible for making up work missed due to absences. Students must check the makeup work box or folder as they return to class. Test and quizzes must be made up within the allotted time (refer to the student handbook) or their absence or it will result in a zero. Students who know they will be absent due to an extra-curricular activity, should get their assignments ahead of time and schedule tests/quizzes in advance of their absence if they are to be absent on test/quiz day.
Re-tests:
Each nine weeks one retest can be taken for a failed chapter test. The highest grade that can be received is a 70. Before the retest, the student MUST come in for tutoring for two hours.
Late work:
Late work is not accepted for any reason expect absences.
Help Sessions:
Learning a language requires continual practice and repetition of speaking and writing. Help is available when a child feels that he/she does not understand the material. Students may receive individual help Tuesday - Friday after school or every morning before school starting at 7. I will NOT be available Mondays after school. If they are unable to attend before or after school, there will be tutoring in the evenings from 5:30-7:30 in room 109 on Mondays and Thursdays.
Evaluation:
Evaluations will be based upon projects/test, quizzes, class participation and homework.
Tests:
Tests are given at the end of each chapter. It will test oral, listening, written, and cultural knowledge.
Projects:
Several mini-projects will be assigned throughout the year.
Quizzes:
Quizzes are based on chapter vocabulary and grammar.
Class participation:
Students will be expected to be attentive in class, participate in oral discussions, practice oral dialogue with partners, not disrupt the classroom lessons, and practice proper classroom etiquette.

Tests 50%
Quizzes 20%
Homework/Class work 30%
Classroom Rules:
Respect.
Be prepared and in your seat when the bell rings. (Begin bell work immediately)
100% effort.
Follow classroom procedures.
You may not place your head on the desk at any time during class.
Follow school rules.
Poor Choice Consequences
First time- Last out.
Second time-15 min. detention
Third time- call home 30 min. detention
Fourth time- Referral, *May call home at any time
