WOODLANDS “Be” STATE CHAMPIONS !!!
It might have been improbable to some, but not to the boys who counted the most. The Woodlands B Team came from 4 strokes behind to capture the State 5-A Golf Championship with a remarkable 8-stroke victory. No one can remember any B Team that has ever taken the State Golf Championship – B Team no more! Today, STATE CHAMPIONS!
After a season of injuries and some inconsistency, these Highlanders turned heads with a runner-up finish at the Regional Championship and a tenacious State Championship victory at Onion Creek Country Club in Austin on Monday and Tuesday, April 30-May 1.
Trailing by four strokes after the first day, the Highlanders knew that they played the final holes poorly and if they could correct that on the final day and stay focused, they would be competitive at the finish. Beginning on hole #14, the clutch performance assured victory.

The Lady Highlanders knew they would be a factor in the 2012 State Championship at Onion Creek Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, April 30-May 1. Trailing by 3 shots after the first day, the Lady Highlanders were able to push ahead during the second day, but fell short on the final holes to eventual champion Allen – an exciting finish, as predicted.
